What is the Primary Care Scholarship?

The Primary Care Physician Scholarship Program is awarded annually to incoming students who are pursuing a career in primary care. Both Arizona and out-of-state residents are eligible to apply. There are limited spots available. To increase the competitiveness of your application, attached is the criterion you will be evaluated on by the committee.

The program covers in-state medical school tuition in return for a commitment to practice General Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, General Pediatrics, Psychiatry, General Surgery or Obstetrics and Gynecology in Arizona and serve rural and urban underserved communities. For more details see the attached scholarship rubric, or review our FAQ page.

Each scholarship recipient agrees to practice medicine in a federally designated underserved community for at least two years and up to four years after graduation and residency training.
